Comment on: "Early lactate clearance and short-term outcomes in icu patients admitted from the emergency department"
This letter comments on the study by Taştemur and Demir evaluating the prognostic significance of early lactate clearance in patients with suspected infection admitted to the intensive care unit from the emergency department. From an emergency medicine perspective, the findings highlight the clinical value of dynamic lactate monitoring during the early resuscitation phase. Early lactate clearance appears to provide meaningful prognostic information beyond static severity scores and may support risk stratification and decision-making during the transition from emergency care to intensive care.
